The quick and freeing cut and paste method is a foundation of Orlando’s various teaching situations as well as personal practice – be it collage of paper or mixing of drawing techniques.

Collaging as a personal practice has opened many possibilities for creative reflection as well as societal analysis of images available in any given context.

Collage making at the University of Manchester with 3rd year students of the English Literature BA department. Combined with a lecture on Kathy Acker’s “Blood and Guts in High School”, given by Kaye Mitchell, the students were asked to appropriate given material and create new narratives through cut up and collage methods.

Collaging illustrations became the starting point of the Micro Food Tools workshop at the Kunsthochschule in Kassel in which they were asked to rethink tools for food on a small scale.
